BRELLA LIVE SHOWCASE: A Day to Celebrate Latina Women in Music

Our first Brella Latin Women in Music showcase exceeded every expectation. From the people who collaborated behind the scenes, to our sponsors, guest musicians, friends, and of course the incredible artists — everyone contributed to a night built on community, talent, and purpose.

It was beautiful to witness how many different people came together with a shared intention: to shine a light on female talent and uplift Latina voices in music.

The evening opened with Venezuelan doctor and cellist Carmen Méndez, who set the tone with a stunning performance of The Swan by Camille Saint-Saëns. Next, Karina Lehman spoke about her creative journey before singing Ay Qué Bonito and her loop-driven piece Nuevo Amanecer.

Then came Alethia, whose songs Smokey Mirror and Waiting For Your Love captured the audience’s attention immediately — and yes, dancing was included.

In the fourth set, Isabella García, accompanied by her duo Pal Mar, performed Tierra de Carnaval and Despiertos, songs that transported the audience straight to Colombia and awakened a deep sense of Latin identity.

Closing the night, Karen Moreno performed Wherever You Go and Not For Me, soulful tracks with rhythms that inspired clapping and built a cultural bridge between Latina and Australian audiences.

Our sponsors More Than Support, Stories Within Us, Empanadas Queen, MILA Giraldo Jewellery, and Las Flores Melbourne  made this event possible. Thank you for believing in Brella and in Latin talent.

We were also joined by talented guest musicians: Carlos Meza, Oliver Matas, Marco Fasano Fasano, and Juan Pablo Salebe.

What made this event truly special was seeing the artists share not only their music, but their stories. The connection they built with one another and the message they delivered was powerful:Latina women will continue to show up, claim space, and let their talent be seen. Our voices are needed, and they are reaching far.

At Brella Latin Women in Music, we want to keep amplifying that message and supporting all the women who are leaving their mark on this industry. This was just the beginning.
